Head of Maintenance; Full Time Position
Compensation: 30.00/hr (under review)
Caravans West RV Resort
Caravans West is a four-season RV Resort with 382 sites located in Scotch Creek, BC.
Reporting to the Board of Directors through the President, the Head of Maintenance is responsible for the physical plant management, which includes the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system, the wastewater treatment system, the pools, the hot tubs, maintenance of all buildings, roadways, recreational amenities and grounds. This includes the requirement to supervise, organize, schedule, and review the work of staff and contractors; as well as managing various projects as approved by the Board from time to time.
Selection Criteria
The following criteria will be used to determine a successful candidate.
Education and experience
High School Diploma or provincial equivalent (GED)
Relevant post-secondary education in a technical field, related project management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
EOCP Wastewater Treatment Level 1, or eligibility in British Columbia for the same
EOCP Water Distribution Level 1, or eligibility in British Columbia for the same
Chlorine Handler Certificate preferred
Pool Operator’s Certificate preferred
Experience in a supervision or leadership
Experience in the maintenance of buildings required
Experience in electrical and plumbing preferred
Experience as Water Operator preferred
Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of building systems components and related installations (HVAC, Pools)
Sound knowledge of utility infrastructure including building blueprint and map interpretation
Sound knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Knowledge of the provincial regulations governing physical plant operations
Knowledge of related occupational hazards, safe work practices, relevant safety regulations and WorkSafeBC reporting process
Abilities
Ability to provide services efficiently and effectively with considerable independence
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet tight timelines, and complete overlapping projects
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to plan, schedule, supervise and review the work of technical subordinates and to coordinate the work of contractors.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with management, staff and facility users.
Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory service standards with sound judgment, reasoning, and discretion
Basic Requirements
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence or equivalent, per Driver’s Abstract
Occupational First Aid, Level 1
Confined Space Certification
Eligible to work in Canada
Satisfactory Criminal Record check (not necessary at application but will be necessary for the successful candidate to assume duties)
Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends & holidays on some occasions
